Champions Trophy 2025: The issue of Champions Trophy 2025 is still not resolved. Now the tournament is just three months away, but it is still not clear where the Champions Trophy will be held. Although the ICC has given its hosting rights to Pakistan, the BCCI has categorically refused to send the Indian team there. This is a security related matter, which cannot be compromised under any circumstances. Now let’s try to understand what can happen in future with Champions Trophy. If the Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB remains steadfast in its stand, it will suffer so much that it will take years to recover from it. It would not be a big deal if it were said that Pakistan could be ruined because of its stubborn attitude.
The easiest way for Pakistan is to build on a hybrid model. A total of 15 matches will be played in the Champions Trophy, of which five matches should be held at venues where the Indian team can play its matches. But PCB is not yet ready for this. So far this is what is being heard, if the picture changes then it will be a different story. It is believed that this will happen in the end. Right now Pakistan is only doing drama, nothing else. Another option left is to transfer the entire tournament to another location. It means that no match should be held in Pakistan, the entire tournament should be held in some other country, where all countries are ready to play. This is being considered, but the PCB is not even ready to accept it. The third and final option is to cancel the Champions Trophy, meaning the entire tournament should not take place.
If Pakistan boycotts the Champions Trophy, it will be a big loss.
Meanwhile, some news are also coming that if the PCB does not agree, then Pakistan may withdraw its name from this tournament, which means that this tournament will be completely boycotted. Although this is difficult, if this happens Pakistan will have to suffer a lot. PCB may face several ICC sanctions i.e. ban. Funding provided to PCB by ICC can also be withheld. Not only this, the assistance of around US$65 million to be provided to the PCB for organizing the tournament will also not be provided. This is a huge sum for Pakistan and given the situation there today, it does not seem likely that Pakistan will be able to afford it.
Pakistan’s three stadiums will also be ready, money will not be received
Not only this, the Pakistan Cricket Board is renovating three of its stadiums. In which the names of Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore are included. A lot of money has been spent on these stadiums so far. If Pakistan withdraws from the Champions Trophy then this expenditure incurred by them will also go in vain. That means the PCB is in a very bad position at this point and its efforts will have to find a middle ground. So that their honor is preserved and the matter is also resolved. But now the PCB is just talking. Nothing more than that. However, until the ICC takes a final decision on the whole matter, it is not appropriate to say anything. A final decision is expected to be taken in the next one to two weeks.
