Baramulla, April 08: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband during routine patrolling and naka checking within the jurisdiction of Police Station Boniyar, officials said.
According to a press note issued by Baramulla Police, during the intervening night of April 7 and 8, 2025, a police party deployed at Bernate Bala, Boniyar intercepted a suspicious individual attempting to flee. The individual was tactfully apprehended and identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Late Hafiz-Ullah Mir, resident of Bernate, Boniyar.
Upon searching the suspect, police recovered 1 kg and 216 grams of a substance believed to be Brown Sugar, along with a digital weighing machine. The contraband was seized on the spot in accordance with legal procedures under the NDPS Act.
As per the press note, a case under FIR No. 25/2025 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Boniyar, and the accused has been taken into custody.
The police further stated that an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the narcotics network and to trace the origin of the recovered contraband.
Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to continue its fight against the drug menace and urged the public to extend cooperation by sharing any information related to drug peddling in their localities.
