Islamabad: Four paramilitary soldiers and two police personnel were killed when a protest by supporters of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan turned violent. More than 100 security personnel were also injured in the violence. The government media has given information about this. Due to this violence, the government has deployed the army in the capital and ordered that miscreants be shot on sight.

Radio Pakistan reported that four Pakistan ‘Rangers’ personnel were killed and five other personnel and several police officers were seriously injured when they collided with a vehicle on the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad late Monday night. According to Radio Pakistan, some miscreants, fully armed with arms and ammunition, pelted stones at ‘Rangers’ soldiers and fired indiscriminately at security personnel at Customs No. 26 in Rawalpindi. It is also said that two police personnel have been killed.

According to Punjab Police, a policeman was killed on Monday during a clash with PTI protesters at the Hakala Interchange outside Islamabad. Additionally, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi while talking to the media late last night said that more than a hundred security personnel have been injured, most of them police personnel. “A senior police officer was seriously injured and sustained a deep head injury due to stone pelting by protesters,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement, strongly condemning the attack on rangers and police personnel by protesters.
