New Delhi: Farmers of Punjab will march towards Delhi today. According to information, farmer leaders Sarvan Singh Pander and Jagjit Singh Pander along with around 100 farmers will march from Shambhu border towards Delhi at 1 pm on Friday. Farmer organizations have named this movement ‘Delhi Chalo’. Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer leader at Shambhu border, said that it has been 297 days since the morcha started and the fast to death at Khanauri border has entered the 11th day. Today at 1 pm a group of 101 farmers and laborers will march from Shambhu border towards Delhi.
Farmers have been protesting for eight months
Saravansingh Pandher said that we have been sitting here for the last eight months. The government has ignored our demands. So we have decided to march on foot till Delhi. He said it would be a moral victory for him if the government still stops him from taking out the march. Leaders of ruling parties at the Center and states have regularly said that there should be no problem if farmers do not bring tractor-trolleys. So if we go to Delhi on foot, there should be no reason to stop the farmers.
Barricading at Ambala-Delhi border
At the same time, Haryana Police has barricaded the Ambala-Delhi border in view of farmers’ march towards Delhi. Ambala SP Surendra Singh Bhoria says that all arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. I request all farmers to maintain peace. After completing the necessary process, they can go to Delhi. It is our duty to obey the law.
Farmers of Punjab will march to Delhi on foot today
Section 163 applies
The Ambala district administration has issued an order under Section 163 of the BNSS, prohibiting any unlawful assembly of five or more persons in the district. According to the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, any procession by foot, vehicle or other means has been banned till further orders.
The order said that there is a possibility that a large number of protesters will come from Punjab and Haryana and gather at the Shambhu border to move towards Delhi. Therefore, appropriate steps need to be taken at the border points and in the district including issuance of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNSS so that movement of any such person is not allowed without prior permission.
What is the demand of the farmers
Apart from the minimum support price (MSP), the farmers’ association is demanding farm loan waiver, pension for farmers and farm labourers, no hike in electricity rates, withdrawal of cases registered by the police and justice for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence. are demanding. Restoration of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 and compensation to the families of farmers killed during the previous agitation in 2020-21 are also two of their demands.
