This time Rahul Gandhi excused the charges against Gautam Adani in the US court. The FBI has alleged in an American court that Gautam Adani tried to bribe state government officials from an American company to get a contract to distribute solar electricity in India. Officers of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha Rs. A bribe of over 2,000 crores was offered.
The FBI says Gautam Adani took capital from people in the US through bonds, but hid the bribes from investors. A federal court called it a fraud on investors and ordered an investigation. Based on this, a criminal case will be filed against seven people including Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani and company director Vineet Jain. It happened late in the night in America and the opposition leaders were active before sunrise in the morning. Rahul Gandhi attacked Narendra Modi by taking ration water. After this, many leaders including Akhilesh Yadav, Sanjay Raut, Farooq Abdullah attacked the Modi government.
Rahul Gandhi said that he can give in writing that Gautam Adani will not be arrested as Adani is the source of BJP’s funding, Narendra Modi is in possession of Adani. The FBI has alleged in a federal court in New York that between 2020 and 2024, Gautam Adani and his company officials paid bribes of Rs 2,029 crore to government officials for contracts to install solar energy plants. The FBI says that Gautam Adani received an investment of about two and a half thousand crore rupees from American investors, but he did not inform the investors about this bribe. So this becomes a case of fraud.
The FBI claimed in court that Adani had offered bribes to Indian officials to get the contract. After this, the US Securities and Exchange Commission also filed a civil suit against Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani and Cyril Cabañez. There were allegations against Adani in America. The first effect of which was seen in the stock market. Adani Group shares fell 10 to 20 percent, causing investors to lose around Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
Another impact was that the $600 million bond issued by the Adani Green Company to raise money from the US stock market was withdrawn. In its statement, Adani Group has termed all the allegations leveled against the group as false and baseless. The statement said that the Adani Group is law abiding, and that the allegations made will be answered in accordance with the law.
There are two sides to Adani’s case. One political, the other financial. Rahul Gandhi has been using Gautam Adani as a weapon to attack Narendra Modi for the past 10 years. Adani as an excuse, Modi as a target, but Rahul was not very successful in this. Even today there is no BJP government in any state where officials have been accused of accepting bribes. No Modi connection found in this. This did not harm Modi’s image but the investors in Adani shares suffered huge losses in the stock market.
This is also a pattern. The case came at a time when Adani’s company’s $600 million bonds were in the US market. Adani had to withdraw the bond after this news. Adani shares fell badly in the market. Last time when the Hindenburg report came out, Adani was supposed to bring a Rs 20 thousand crore FPO. At that time too, it suffered losses in the stock market. So is this just a coincidence? The last time the Hindenburg report came out. Parliament was about to begin its session at that time and the whole session was in an uproar over the Hindenburg report.
This time too the news of the charge sheet against Adani has come from the US, the winter session of Parliament is going to start after three days and today Rahul Gandhi has announced that the opposition will surround the government on the Adani issue, meaning there will be another uproar in Parliament.
