Rajat Sharma’s Blog | Bundles of notes in Parliament: Examine, but don’t name names

The bundle of five hundred rupee notes became a major political issue. There was an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the bundle of notes. There was a heated argument between Congress leaders and BJP leaders. And finally the proceedings of the House were adjourned for the day. Now it is being investigated whether the 500 rupee notes found in the house are genuine or fake, if genuine then to whom do these notes belong, if these notes are accidentally left in the house then why can’t anyone claim them? . Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar has now started an inquiry to find answers to all these questions, but when he informed the House about this, the Congress members started uproar.

The President’s speech was bad for the Congress. It happened that Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that a bundle of Rs 500 notes was found on seat number 222 and this seat is in the name of Abhishek Manu Singhvi of Congress. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge objected to this statement. Said that if the chairman has ordered an inquiry then what is the need to name any member before the inquiry is completed. Why did Abhishek take Manu Singhvi’s name? Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Speaker has only talked about the meeting where the bundles of notes were found, what is wrong with it, why there is so much fuss over it.

Leader of the House JP Nadda said that receiving a bundle of notes in the House is a very serious matter. This cannot be taken lightly, so it should be investigated, but the way the opposition is stirring up the house raises doubts. Union Minister Piyush Goyal seized on Congress’ argument. Goyal said that if the Congress is ready, it should make a rule that if a case is under investigation, no one can be named in that case. Piyush Goyal said that Congress leaders are creating ruckus in the House every day with news published in foreign newspapers, is it right?

Goyal said that the Adani case is also under investigation, yet the Congress mentions Adani’s name day and night. If it is wrong to name Singhvi before the investigation, how much right it is to name Adani before the investigation is complete. Congress is right to question, how can anyone be named until there is an investigation. Abhishek Manu Singhvi is saying that the bundle of notes is not his then why his name was taken. Why not wait for the investigation to be completed?

BJP leaders liked this statement of Congress very much. He asked that if the name should not be taken without investigation, then why Rahul Gandhi creates ruckus by naming Adani every day. Second, Adani also says that the allegations against him are false. So why Congress is not waiting for the completion of investigation in his case. Congress fell into its own trap. When Piyush Goyal suggested that there should be a consensus not to name anyone until the investigation is over, Congress leaders were not ready for this. Now the question is whether the rules should be different for Congress leaders. Does Congress have a license to impeach someone without investigation? Today it became difficult for Congress leaders to answer this. ,Rajat Sharma)
