Something surprising happened in the mega auction planned for IPL 2025. This time we saw things beyond what we thought. Records were being broken within minutes. No one could understand what was happening. Especially when Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were named, teams seemed eager to get them into their side. Shreyas Iyer was the first to break Mitchell Starc’s record and become the most expensive player in IPL history, but was overtaken moments later when Rishabh Pant’s name was mentioned. Now it seems that LSG i.e. Lucknow Super Giants has got its new captain.
Rishabh Pant was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore
Earlier, KL Rahul was captaining Lucknow Super Giants. But could not perform well for himself and was dropped as the team was also performing poorly. Since then there were speculations about who will be the new captain of LSG. Now it seems that the answer has been found. LSG has bought Team India’s explosive batsman Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. However, earlier a bid of Rs 20.75 crore was placed on Pant. After this Delhi Capitals tried to buy him under RTM. After this LSG were again asked what was the last highest bid they could bid for Pant, to which Lucknow Super Giants directly bid Rs 27 crore. After this when Delhi was again asked if they could bid more, Delhi refused and Pant went to LSG.
Pant may take charge of LSG
Earlier it was speculated that Rishabh Pant might go to Punjab Kings, as Punjab are looking for a captain and have a lot of money in their purse. But Punjab showed more interest in taking Shreyas Iyer. After this all eyes were on Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant broke all the records and now he has become the most expensive player in IPL history. Meanwhile, there is a possibility that Rishabh Pant will become the new captain of LSG. There should not be much doubt about this. Yes, it has not been officially announced yet, which can be seen happening soon.
