Samples of Golgappa water and coffee fell, also adulterated in prasad, in this town in Himachal.

After samples of rot sold at a temple trust shop in Hamirpur failed, samples of Golgappa water and coffee in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district also failed to meet the quality criteria and the quality of mustard oil did not fail the inspection as per the standard. A total of 17 samples collected from food shops and street vendors in Una town were recently sent for testing to a laboratory at Kandaghat in Solan district. Officials said that color adulteration was found in Golgappa. According to the rules, color cannot be used in water.

Canteen of Baba Balaknath Mandir Trust closed

On Tuesday, samples of rot sold as prasad at the Baba Balaknath temple in Devasidh in Hamirpur district were found to be of poor quality. Prasad is not edible

Two months ago, the Food Safety Department sent samples of rot, sold as prasad at the Baba Balaknath Mandir Trust shop, to the ‘Composite Testing Laboratory’ at Kandaghat in Solan district for testing. These samples were found not fit for consumption. Samples of ‘rote’ taken from a private shop have also come negative. Wheat flour, sugar and desi ghee or vegetable oil are used to make ‘roat’. The main canteen selling prasad was run by the temple trust from the beginning and its business was doing well. Around 50-75 lakh devotees visit the ancient cave temple of Baba Balaknath every year. They offer ‘Rot’, sweets and other things as Prasad to Baba Balak Nath.

Meanwhile, reports of three out of 17 samples have come from the Kandaghat laboratory. Out of which two were of poor quality and one was found to have the wrong brand name written on it. On Wednesday, Assistant Director of Food Standards and Safety Branch Jagdish Dhiman said that action is being taken in this regard.

Mixed with mustard oil

Samples of Golgappa water taken by the Food Standards and Safety Branch in Una have also been found adulterated. The mustard oil sample was also found to be adulterated, while the coffee sample failed, officials said. He said that action will be taken in this matter. Officials said that the state government has given strict instructions to the health department to ensure that only quality products are sold in the markets and to register cases against those violating the orders as per law.
