Islamabad: Pakistan is still not free from the disease which India had controlled long ago. The name of the disease is polio and it has become an ’embarrassment’ to Pakistan. The infected children include two girls aged 8 and 20 months and a boy aged five months. A laboratory official said the new cases were reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob and Jafarabad districts. Polio virus cases have been reported in all three districts this year.
Sharif government took steps
Let us tell you that Pakistan is among the few countries where polio has not been eradicated yet. Earlier recently, when new cases of polio were reported in Pakistan, the Sharif government launched a new vaccination drive across the country. It is also worth noting that vaccination campaigns are conducted regularly in Pakistan, but terrorist attacks on health workers and the police personnel protecting them continue to occur.
