Peshawar: Violence between tribal groups in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has left at least 37 people dead and many injured in the past 24 hours. The police has given information about this on Saturday. Violence broke out between the Alizai and Bagan tribal groups in Kurram district, which borders Afghanistan, after an attack on a passenger van on Thursday. 47 people were killed in the attack on the passenger van.

Top officials of the administration and police have reached the area by helicopter. “At least 37 people have been killed so far,” an official told the media here. With the death toll still rising, he said more than 30 people were injured. People from the tribal community are targeting each other using automatic weapons. Houses and shops were targeted in the violence, prompting people from various villages to flee to safer places. Seeing the worsening situation, all the educational institutions in the district were closed on Saturday, which was supported by Muhammad Hayat Hasan, President of ‘Private Education Network’.

More than 50 vehicles were fired upon in Bagan, Manduri and Auchhat on Thursday. Police officials said that 47 people, including women and children, have died in this. He said most of the dead belonged to the Shia community. (language)
