Strong earthquake hits Northern California, tsunami alert issued

A strong earthquake measuring more than 7 on the Richter scale struck the northern coast California Thursday (local time), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The seismic activity occurred at 10:44 a.m. (local time) in the Pacific Ocean, about 5.5 miles (9 kilometers) west of Ferndale, a modest coastal town in Humboldt County. Subsequently, the region experienced several smaller aftershocks.
Powerful Trembling were also recorded in various regions including Petrolia, Scotland and the cob.
The United States National Tsunami Center also issued a tsunami alert following the massive earthquake.
No casualties, injuries or property damage have been reported yet. More details are awaited.
