Taylor Lorenz defends ‘celebrating’ Brian Thompson murder: ‘If you saw…’

Taylor Lorenz justifies why he supported the killing of Brian Thompson.

Former Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz Whose murder was attacked for her light-hearted comments CEO of United Healthcare Brian Thompson stood by his comments on Wednesday, saying that if “you’ve seen a loved one die it’s natural because an insurance group has denied them life-saving treatment as a cost-cutting measure”.
Brian Thompson was killed by a masked man who has not yet been identified. The killing has opened a floodgate of celebration on social media as users complain about how UniversalHealthcare’s denial of insurance payments is the highest. “And people wonder why we let these officers die,” Lorenz wrote on BlueSky.
While some people were shocked whether the reporter had actually called for violence, Taylor published a blog on Friday clarifying that she really meant what she wrote. She said she did not mean to personally kill such CEOs but was speaking for the many Americans who have been harassed by such insurance companies.

“Let me be very clear: my post uses the collective “we” and it conveys public sentiment. It’s not me personally saying “I want these officers dead and therefore we should kill them.” I Explaining that thousands of Americans (myself included) are fed up with our barbaric healthcare system and the people at the top who cause pain, suffering and death to millions of innocent people,” Lorenz said.
“This is what the media fails to understand. They don’t see insurance CEOs who allow thousands of innocent people to die each year by denying coverage, often coverage doctors deem medically necessary, violent,” she wrote.
“People have a very justified hatred of insurance company CEOs because these executives are responsible for untold amounts of death and suffering. I think it’s good to call out this broken system and the people in power who enable it. Murdered.” But so that we can change the system and hold those in power accountable for their actions,” she wrote.
