Ahead of the start of the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, the Indian team has suffered a major blow as Team India’s star batsman Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the first match of the series to be held in Perth. Team India has reached Australia without captain Rohit Sharma where he is practicing in Perth. Meanwhile Team India is also playing a three-day intra-squad match, on the second day of the game, Shubman Gill injured his left finger while fielding in the slips, after which he immediately left the field.
This is a big blow for Team India
The Indian team is scheduled to play the first match of the Test series against Australia on November 22 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, in which captain Rohit Sharma is almost difficult to play. At the same time, Shubman Gill’s exit is also being considered as a big blow for Team India. According to Cricbuzz news, Gill injured his left thumb while fielding in the slips while trying to take a catch. After this, when his injury was scanned, it was revealed to be a fracture, due to which Gill would not be fully fit until the first Test match. However, there is no official statement from the team management regarding Gill’s exclusion yet. Earlier on the first day of the intra-squad match, KL Rahul also got injured while batting, due to which he did not take the field even while fielding in the second day’s game, although his injury was not too serious.
Abhimanyu Iswaran may get a chance
With Shubman Gill ruled out of the Perth Test and captain Rohit Sharma yet to join Team India, Abhimanyu Iswaran may get a chance to open the innings alongside Yashaswi Jaiswal in the first match at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Apart from this, it will be interesting to see which batsman gets a chance at the number-3 position as Virat Kohli batted at number-3 in the first match of the Test series against New Zealand when Gill was out of the playing eleven. It was a match. However, playing at this number in Australian conditions is not an easy task for any team’s batsman.
