Temple attack case in Brampton, Canada, SFJ leader arrested

Ottawa: Canadian police have arrested a 35-year-old local man in connection with an attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada. The officials gave this information. Detectives from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Strategic Investigation Team (SIT) have arrested Indrajit Gosal of Brampton and charged him with assault with a weapon, Peel police said in a statement. ‘The security of the Canadian High Commission here in Delhi has been increased.

The arrested accused is the coordinator of SFJ

According to ‘Toronto Star’ news, Gosal is the coordinator of ‘Sikhs for Justice (SFJ)’ in Canada. SFJ is banned in India. Gosal was arrested on November 8, the statement said. He is charged with assault with a weapon. Gossal has been released conditionally and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date. The SIT has been formed to probe the criminal incidents that took place during the events of November 3 and 4. On 3 November, protesters carrying Khalistani flags clashed with people and disrupted a program organized jointly by temple authorities and the Indian consulate.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned Sunday’s incident and said every Canadian has the right to practice their religion freely and safely. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that New Delhi is extremely concerned about the security of Indian nationals in Canada. (language)
