The lethal hat-trick bowler has been ruled out of the entire ODI series, with his replacement announced

New Zealand’s star fast bowler Lockie Ferguson took a brilliant hat-trick in the second T20 match against Sri Lanka. He became the fifth bowler of the Kiwi team to take a hat-trick in a T20I match. Jacob Oram, Michael Bracewell, Tim Southee and Matt Henry have done this before him. Because of that, the New Zealand team was able to win the match. New Zealand are now scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting on November 13. But even before this series, the Kiwi team has suffered a major blow and its star fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been out.

Adam Milne’s entry into the squad

Lockie Ferguson suffered a strain while bowling the second ball during the T20 match against Sri Lanka. He will return to New Zealand today for a scan. The details of the injury will be known only after this. Adam Milne has been included in the New Zealand squad for the ODI series in place of Lockie Ferguson. He will join the team in Dambulla tomorrow. Milne has so far taken 61 wickets in 53 T20 International matches for the Kiwi team. Apart from this he has taken 57 wickets in 49 ODI matches.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said we are disappointed for Lockie. He showed in just two overs what good skills he has with the ball and will be missing in an important ODI series for us. It’s always tough to be out so early in a tour, but we hope his recovery will be short and he’ll be back on the field soon.
