The Ministry of External Affairs made a statement regarding Bangladesh and Syria, saying – We are closely monitoring the situation

Persecution of Hindus continues in Bangladesh. Every day the temples of Hindu gods and goddesses are being demolished and Hindus are being attacked. Meanwhile, following the arrest of ISKCON chief priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, there is resentment among the Hindu minority towards the Bangladesh government. Meanwhile, the Indian Foreign Secretary is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on 9 December 2024 for consultations with the Foreign Office. Regarding the visit to Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs said that this is part of our structured dialogue with the Bangladesh side.

Statement of Ministry of External Affairs on Syria and Bangladesh

On the issue of Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs further said that we have talked about this issue before. We would like to reiterate our expectation that the relevant legal processes underway in Bangladesh are conducted in a fair, just and transparent manner, ensuring full respect for the legal authorities of the individuals concerned. Regarding Syria, the Ministry of External Affairs said that we have taken note of the recent escalation of fighting in the northern part of Syria. We are closely monitoring the situation. There are about 90 thousand Indian citizens in Syria, of which 14 are working in various UN organizations. Our mission is to stay in close contact with our citizens to ensure their safety and security.
