The PCB, under stress after India’s refusal, is now talking to the Pakistan government for help

Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be held on Pakistani soil and Pakistan Cricket Board is trying its best to host the tournament here. PCB has received a mail from ICC stating that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy. After this it is impossible for Team India to go to Pakistan. Now the hybrid model of PCB is on the way, but PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has already ruled out the hybrid model. This has created a major crisis even as the Champions Trophy is being held.

PCB started talks with Pakistan government

After the Pakistan Cricket Board expressed its reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, its president Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday started talks with senior government officials to discuss the future course of action. The PCB has informed the federal government about the situation. The PCB confirmed on Sunday that India has informed the ICC of its reluctance to tour Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in February-March next year.

Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Union Home Minister, said a PCB official. They are in touch with government officials and are now waiting for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s instructions. The official expressed dismay at India’s attitude despite Pakistan promising full security for visiting teams here during the prestigious ICC event. He said this was unacceptable as India had no logical reason to refuse to send its team to Pakistan again.

Government of Pakistan may give strict direction

He said that preparations for the event are going on as per schedule and we have already assured the ICC of best security arrangements for all teams including India. Meanwhile, speculation is rife in Pakistan that the country’s government may direct the PCB to stop playing India in any ICC or other multi-team events starting with the Champions Trophy, unless the Indian government gives its approval.
