The winter session of Parliament, starting today, is expected to see a lot of uproar on issues ranging from Wakf to Adani.

The winter session of Parliament is going to start from Monday. Recently, assembly elections have been held in two states of the country. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led NDA alliance has won massively, while in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren’s JMM-led alliance has won. In such a situation BJP MPs will be present in Parliament with renewed enthusiasm. However, the opposition has demanded a debate in Parliament on the Adani issue, which is likely to cause an uproar.

All-party meeting concluded

As per tradition, an all-party meeting was organized on the eve of the winter session of Parliament on Sunday. 42 leaders from 30 parties participated in the meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Opposition parties have demanded a parliamentary debate on the allegations in the US against Adani Group. At the same time, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju clarified that the issues raised in both houses will be decided by their respective committees with the concurrence of the respective speakers. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that the government has appealed to all parties to ensure the functioning of Parliament.

Report prepared on Wakf Bill

The Waqf Amendment Bill is also likely to be discussed in the winter session of Parliament. Jagdambika Pal, chairperson of the joint committee of parliament considering the bill, informed on Thursday that the report is ready and efforts will be made to reach a consensus among all members on it. At the same time, the opposition MPs in the joint committee have demanded to extend the tenure of the committee till November 29. The opposition MPs will meet the Lok Sabha Speaker on November 25 in this matter.
