Bidding will no longer be done on these players. There are only 574 players left whose names will be called and bid on during the auction. The special thing is that all ten teams have only 204 slots left. This means that once teams complete their squads, at most the same number of players will be purchased. The rest will go unsold.
Only 70 slots are left for foreign players
Out of 574 players shortlisted by BCCI, 366 are Indian and 208 are foreign players. Three players are also from the Associate Nations. The teams have 204 slots remaining. Only 70 of those slots belong to foreign players. That means remaining 130 players will be bought from India. It means that the overall demand for Indian players will be high. This means that some Indian faces can be bought, who you might not know, but the foreign players will almost exclusively be those who have played in the IPL before for some team. That means there are old faces.
Teams can have a maximum of 25 players in a squad
Let us tell you about IPL that all teams can include minimum 18 and maximum 25 players in their team. That means, if all teams complete their squads, only 204 players will be sold. If a team selects fewer players, the number of players sold also decreases. Overall this is a mega auction so it is sure to be full of excitement for two days.
