This big world record broken in T20 International, a player from a small country has done wonders

The Netherlands team is currently on a tour of Oman where they are playing a three-match T20 series against the hosts. While the Oman team won the first match of this series by 3 wickets, the Netherlands team came back in the second match and won it by 50 runs. The team managed to win the series by 29 runs to win the series 2-1. Even though the Omani team faced defeat in the third match, their team’s left-arm spin bowler Shakeel Ahmed performed a miracle with the bat instead of the ball to create a new world record in T20 Internationals.

Shakeel broke Aqeel Hossain’s record

In T20 Internationals, teams now have a lot of depth in their batting, with lower order players also making important contributions with the bat when needed. Meanwhile, when Oman were chasing a score of 148 against the Netherlands in the third T20I, losing 8 wickets for 48, Shakeel Ahmed stepped in to save the team from a humiliating defeat. Contributing with the bat at number 10, he scored 45 runs off 33 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. This is the most innings ever played at this batting position in T20 Internationals. This record was previously held by West Indies spin bowler Aqeel Hossain, who played an unbeaten innings of 44 runs against England in a T20 match played at Bridgetown in 2022.
