The minimum temperature remained below zero degrees at most places in Kashmir. However, the southern parts of the country are yet to experience the cold. Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the hottest December day in the last 16 years. The impact of Cyclone Fangal is still felt in the South-Eastern states. The people of Delhi have got relief due to heavy winds in North India. Delhi’s air has become much better than before and is now in the moderate range. Due to the blowing of wind, the pollution particles are dispersed and moved away. An official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that strong winds are expected in the city from Wednesday to December 7. He said that a fresh Western Disturbance is expected after this, due to which moderate fog will start appearing from December 8.
Fog is likely in Delhi today
According to the Meteorological Department, the day temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal with clear air. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above the season’s average, and humidity ranged between 66 and 44 percent during the day. The Meteorological Department has predicted foggy conditions on Thursday with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees and a minimum temperature of around 10 degrees.
Mercury dips below zero in Kashmir
Mercury has gone below zero in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature remained below zero degree in most places on Wednesday. Officials said the minimum temperature remained below zero degrees at all meteorological department centers in the Valley except Kokarnag. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2 degrees Celsius, which was minus 1.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night. Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.2 degree Celsius. Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius and the famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius.
A record of 16 years was broken in Mumbai
Wednesday (December 4) was the hottest December day in Mumbai in the last 16 years. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The Santacruz observatory, which monitors temperatures in the suburbs, said Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius, while the Colaba meteorological center recorded 35 degrees Celsius. IMD Mumbai scientist Sushma Nair said the Kalina Observatory recorded Mumbai’s temperature of 37.7 degrees Celsius on 5 December 2008. He said that last week on November 29, Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees Celsius, which was the lowest temperature in November in the last eight years. (Input- PTI Language)
