Washington: After registering a historic victory in the US presidential election, Donald Trump has started selecting his cabinet officers one by one. They are taking great care in this work and selecting personalities who will live and die for America and who have contributed greatly to their country. In this series, Trump has chosen a former intelligence officer, who is among America’s top spies and is called a “hawk” for China, to be director of America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
For this, Trump has chosen his closest aide John Ratcliffe, who was also the Director of National Intelligence at the end of his first term. Let us tell you that Ratcliffe served as the country’s top spy from late May 2020 until Trump left office in January 2021. Most recently he co-chaired the Center for American Security, a think tank advocating Trump’s position. Apart from this, Ratcliffe also advised the former Republican president on national security policies during his 2024 campaign. Ratcliffe is a former intelligence officer
Ratcliffe is a former US intelligence director and one of Trump’s most trusted confidants. He worked during Trump’s first term. A former member of the House of Representatives, Ratcliffe promised at his confirmation hearing to become DNI in May 2020 that he would provide “objective and timely intelligence” to the position. He also said he would keep a close eye on Iran’s military, North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and other issues such as foreign interference in US elections. When Ratcliffe was confirmed as DNI by the Republican-majority Senate in 2020, all Democratic senators voted against his nomination, citing his lack of experience and partisanship.
Ratcliffe has been called a hawk for China
Ratcliffe is said to be a hawk for America’s rival China. Eagle is the most attacking bird. Recently, Ratcliffe has also criticized President Joe Biden’s policies in the Middle East. In an article published in June 2023, he argued that Biden’s threat to halt arms shipments to Israel over military action in Gaza put a key ally at risk. He also argued that the administration was not tough enough on Iran. Ratcliffe also established himself as a China Hawk during his tenure as DNI.
