The handshake between President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron became a viral moment during Trump’s visit to Paris to reopen the Notre Dame Cathedral. This is Trump’s first international visit since winning the election and Republicans can’t stop cheering about “how Trump has already taken over the world.”
In a viral video in which Trump and Macron shook hands, they were seen caught in a wrestling moment before Trump put down Macron’s hand.
“President Trump is back to dominating world leaders with his handshake. Macron will need a hand massage after all the twists and turns Trump has put him through,” one comment said.
“President Trump handles French President Emmanuel Macron with the most impressive handshake I’ve ever seen. We’re back a lot,” said another.
“President Trump made Macron his bike with just a handshake,” wrote one.
“Donald Trump’s handshake with Emmanuel Macron sums up US-French relations,” said another comment.
“Trump shows Macron whose boss gives him a very firm handshake,” wrote another.
“Emmanuel Macron may need a chiropractor after Trump’s handshake. đ” said one comment.
Macron, Trump have a long history of handshakes
This is not the first time that Trump and Macron have shaken hands. Earlier reports also detailed how their knuckles turned white after a long handshake. During their first meeting in May 2017, they shook hands for a long time with extraordinary intensity. Macron also called the experience a “moment of truth”. Two months later the same was repeated. For Trump, a handshake is a statement of dominance and the Notre Dame event was the first occasion where Trump displayed his famous handshake.
