An ongoing line of questioning centered on the controversial pardon, with one reporter asking Schumer if he agreed with fellow Democrats who condemned the decision. Schumer stood firm, repeating his answer: “I got nothing for you.”
Schumer was asked again if the pardon set a poor precedent for the incoming Trump administration in January, but his response remained the same: “I got nothing for you.”
Last week, US President Joe Biden granted a full and unconditional pardon to Hunter Biden, reversing his previous stance of not interfering in his son’s legal issues. The pardon covers federal gun and tax charges Hunter Biden faced for crimes committed between January 1, 2014 and December 1, 2024, including all crimes charged or prosecuted by Special Counsel David Weiss.
The decision drew backlash from both Democrats and Republicans, who criticized it as an abuse of power in such a sensitive and powerful role.
