New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Sachin Pilot on Friday said that he is confident about the victory of Maha Vikas Aghadi or MVA in Maharashtra. He said that after getting the majority, it will not take much time for the coalition members to decide on the post of Chief Minister. The Congress leader also said that it would not take more than a day to decide ‘to whom to give which post’. Let us tell you that the party entrusted the responsibility of the Marathwada region to the pilot and he campaigned vigorously in the Maharashtra, Jharkhand and by-election areas.
‘Haryana was a shocker and quite a surprise’
The Congress leader dismissed exit poll indications that the BJP-led coalition would get a majority in both states. A day before the results, Pilot had said that the results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections as well as by-elections held in various states would make the BJP and NDA ‘face to face with reality’. On the party’s prospects in these elections after the defeat in Haryana, the Congress General Secretary said that Haryana was shocking and very surprising, but Maharashtra and Jharkhand are a different story.
‘I think we will see a change of government in Maharashtra’
Pilot said, ‘There is a clear desire among voters for change in Maharashtra as the ‘double engine’ government that was running did not live up to any of their expectations. The kind of campaign we ran, the kind of promises we made, our collaborative partners, the choice of candidates, our statements were positive and received a good response. That’s why I think we will see a change of government in Maharashtra. Let us tell you that the pilot held a total of 55 public meetings during the assembly election campaign, of which more than 2 dozen were in Maharashtra alone.
‘BJP has no credible face in Jharkhand’
Pilot said that a sitting Chief Minister in Jharkhand was jailed for some reasons and finally got relief from the Supreme Court. He said that such misuse of central agencies was not liked by the voters of the state. Pilot said, ‘BJP has no credible face in Jharkhand. I think the allies of the ‘Bharat’ coalition of opposition parties in both the states are in a good position to form the government.
