US prosecutors have accused Indian tycoon Gautam Adani and the Adani Group of paying $250 million (about Rs 2,100 crore) in bribes to Indian officials to win solar power tenders. Adani is accused of concealing bribery information from American banks and investors. However, Adani Group has completely rejected all these allegations. On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on this issue on Thursday and also demanded the arrest of Gautam Adani. After this, Bharatiya Janata Party also held a press conference against Rahul Gandhi and made big allegations against Rahul. Now statements are coming from different political parties on this whole issue. Let’s find out who said what.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
On the US charges against Gautam Adani, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that it has become very clear that Gautam Adani has violated Indian and American laws. Rahul Gandhi said that Gautam Adani should be arrested immediately. Rahul also demanded an inquiry into the Madhabi Puri massacre. Rahul Gandhi said that in the upcoming winter session of Parliament, he will raise the issue in the Lok Sabha as the Leader of the Opposition and demand a JPC. Rahul Gandhi said that I can guarantee that Adani will not be arrested or investigated in India as the government is protecting it. Rahul said that there should be an inquiry in all states, irrespective of which party is in power there.
BJP targeted Rahul Gandhi
Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s statement, BJP said that Rahul has been trying to tarnish the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a long time. This is part of it. BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra has said that as far as the allegations against the Adani Group are concerned, the company has to come clean and defend itself. The law will take its course. Sambit Patra said that at the time the government officials were allegedly bribed, the BJP was not in government in Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu, while the YSR Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were in power in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha respectively. Patra said Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and the Congress have been trying to tarnish Modi’s image since 2002, but they have not succeeded. Sambit Patra questioned that if Adani is corrupt then why Congress governments are allowing his company to invest in states. Patra also said that the Congress cannot tolerate the strength of the Indian economy under PM Modi.
