. Speaking to reporters here, Omar said that the demand for statehood is non-negotiable. “We are fighting a long battle,” he said.
He also slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had earlier said it could not please Muslims. “While they cannot please us, they should not threaten or target us for practicing our religion,” Omar said while condemning attacks on religious places including temples, mosques in various parts of the country. “This is not the India our forefathers fought for or envisioned,” he added, highlighting his concerns about growing communal divide and religious intolerance under the current government.
