Winter session of Karnataka assembly begins in Belagavi, 5 bills to be introduced in 10-day session

The 10-day winter session of the Karnataka state assembly will begin from Monday in Belagavi, bordering Maharashtra. Five bills – three private bills and two ordinance replacement bills – will be introduced in the Assembly this session.

“Three private bills introduced by the legislators have been accepted,” Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader told reporters. A private bill introduced by Darshan Puttannaiah deals with climate change in Karnataka. Another bill introduced by MY Patil related to the Gangapura Dattatreya Development Authority Bill. HK Suresh’s private bill related to Belur Halebidu Area Development Authority.

2,500 government officials and employees will be present

Khader said that around 2,500 government officials and employees will be present for the smooth functioning of the Assembly. The Speaker also said that 8,500 people, including 6,000 policemen, have been deployed. The Assembly Speaker said that a photo exhibition of 100 photographs on Mahatma Gandhi would be organized to mark the centenary of the Belgaum (now called Belagavi) session of the Congress, which he (Gandhi) presided over.
