Winter vacations in Kashmir soon after the students join the new class: Sakina Itu

Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itos today said winter vacations will be announced soon after students join new classes despite recent changes in the academic calendar.

With the annual exams now being conducted in October and November instead of March, the decision to start winter vacations earlier is aimed at providing much-needed relief to students struggling with severe winter conditions in the Valley.

The Education Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by the students due to the bitter cold and emphasized the need for early winter vacation to ease their hardships. “We want to ensure the welfare of the students and this step will help them face the harsh winter better,” she said.

Etoo also responded to ongoing concerns about private schools, particularly complaints about exorbitant fees and other unfair practices. The minister asserted that strict action would be taken against any private organization found violating the law, including charging unauthorized fees. She encouraged parents who believe they are being exploited by private schools to come forward and lodge formal complaints with their office or the education department.
