While the eyes of the whole world were on the mega auction of IPL 2025, Pakistan cricket team lost yet another ODI match. Pakistan is currently gearing up for the Champions Trophy, but suffered a major setback after the defeat against a small team. Although the result of the match was declared by DLS due to rain, Pakistan would have lost even if the match had been completed. The way Zimbabwe played today has exposed the Pakistani team in ODIs as well. There are still two matches left in the series. Which Pakistan has to win at any cost.
The Zimbabwean team could not even play their 50 overs
In the first ODI match played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe scored only 205 runs while batting first. The team could not even play their quota of 50 overs and could only play 40.2 overs. After this it seemed that the Pakistani team would win this match comfortably, but who knew that Pakistan would put up a worse performance. At one point Zimbabwe were 7 wickets down for just 125 runs, but even after this the team came back and took the score past 200.
The Pakistani team lost 6 wickets on a score of only 60.
After this, when Pakistan started batting, the team could score only 60 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 21 overs. Meanwhile, it rained and the match had to be stopped. After this there was hope that the match would go ahead if the rain stopped, but Pakistan’s condition was very thin. When the rain did not stop, the Zimbabwean team won the match by a huge margin of 80 runs according to the Duckburth-Lewis method. A defeat against a lesser team like Zimbabwe will leave a deep wound for Pakistan.
There are still two matches left in the series
Three ODIs are to be played between Zimbabwe and Pakistan. The Pakistani team has already lost its first match, after which the threat of losing the series is also looming. The second match of the series will be played on November 26 while the last and third match of the series will be played on November 28. Now it remains to be seen how the Pakistani team will bounce back in the series.
