Indian team got new manager for Australia tour, BCCI made big announcement

India Women vs Australia Women: The Indian men’s cricket team is currently on a tour of Australia, where they are scheduled to play five Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On the other hand, the Indian women’s cricket team will also travel to Australia in December to play a three-match ODI series, for which the squad has been announced by the BCCI. The team is in the hands of Harmanpreet Kaur. Now in a big decision BCCI has appointed Meghalaya Cricket Association president Naba Bhattachari as the manager of the Indian women’s cricket team for the tour of Australia.

Working in Meghalaya Cricket for last 15 years

Naba Bhattachari told PTI that the tour committee has informed me and all concerned about my selection as manager. It is an honor and I am excited for this position. I will try to promote sports more among the youth of the tribal community of the state. I am grateful to Jai Shah for this post. Bhattacharjee has been instrumental in the development of cricket in Meghalaya for the last 15 years after working in BCCI’s New Area Development Programme. He achieved permanent membership of the State Board in 2018 and has been a part of many BCCI domestic and international tournaments in the past.

Shefali Verma is not part of the team

Young opener Shefali Verma has not got a place for the ODI series. Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriguez and Richa Ghosh will be responsible for the team’s batting against Australia. While in the bowling attack, Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma, Arundhati Reddy have got a chance. The first and second ODI between the Indian women’s team and the Australian women’s team will be played at the Brisbane ground. The third and final ODI will be played in Perth on December 11. All the three ODI matches will start at 9.50 am IST.
