Players were auctioned for IPL 2025. Where crores of bids were placed on many players. During this time, there was a player who made a name for himself in the IPL auction at the age of just 13. This player is none other than Bihar’s star player Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been bought by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025 for Rs 1.10 crore. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is an Indian star batsman. Reaching this position was not an easy task for Vaibhav. He has worked hard to achieve this.
Father sold the land
The success of Vaibhav Suryavanshi is due to his father Sanjeev Suryavanshi. His father has sacrificed a lot to make him a cricketer. When Vaibhav was just 10 years old, his father sold his agricultural land. Little did he know then that in just three years his son would create history in the IPL auction. In an interview given to PTI, his father looked very happy. His father Sanjeev lives in his native village Motipur, 15 kilometers from Samastipur city in Bihar. He is a farmer.
Sanjeev told PTI over the phone that he is no longer just our son but the son of entire Bihar. His son is currently in Dubai for the Under-19 Asia Cup. He said that my son has worked hard. At the age of 8, she excelled in the Under-16 District Trials. I used to take him to Samastipur for cricket coaching and then bring him back. Recalling his difficult days, his father said that this was not just an investment, it was a big investment. What can I tell you, we have sold our land too. The situation is still not completely improved.
Is Vaibhav really only 13 years old?
Many questions have been raised regarding the age of Vaibhav, who is playing for the Indian U-19 team. Many people also accused him of misrepresenting his age after he was sold in the IPL auction. On this issue, his father said that he took the BCCI Bone Test for the first time when he was 8 and a half years old. He has played under-19 for India. We are not afraid of anyone. It may pass the age test again. In his statement, his father further said that Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwari’s blessings have always helped in Vaibhav’s journey.
What did the BCA president say about Vaibhav?
Bihar Cricket Association President Rakesh Tiwari said in a statement about Vaibhav that the incredible achievement of Vaibhav Suryavanshi at such a young age fills us with great pride. His journey from Bihar to IPL is a reflection of his talent, hard work and determination. Bihar Cricket Association has always believed in promoting young talent and Vaibhav’s success highlights the potential of cricket in our state. We are confident that he will continue to shine and inspire aspiring cricketers in Bihar and beyond. I congratulate Vaibhav and his family.
