By-elections are going to be held on 31 assembly seats in 10 states of the country, see the complete list here.

Voting for the first phase of Jharkhand assembly elections is on November 13. Voting is going on today in 43 assembly seats of Jharkhand. By-elections are also being held today for 31 assembly seats in 10 states and one Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. Apart from this, both candidates of Sikkim Revolutionary Front have won unopposed in two seats of Sikkim. In fact, out of 31 assembly seats, 28 assembly seats fell vacant as candidates from these seats won the Lok Sabha elections. Along with this, due to untimely demise of two seats and change of party of one candidate, these seats are vacant, on which by-elections are being held.

By-elections are being held on which seats?

West Bengal: By-elections will be held for 6 Assembly seats of West Bengal. By-elections will be held here in Seetai, Madarihat, Naihati, Haroa, Taldangra and Medinipur.

Meghalaya: Voters will exercise their franchise in Gambregre (West Goro Hills) assembly seat of Meghalaya. From here Congress has fielded Jingzhang Marak and BJP has fielded Bernard Marak.

Gujarat: Voting will be held for the by-election of Vav assembly seat of Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Congress has fielded Gulab Singh Rajput and BJP has fielded Swarupji Thakur from here.

Bihar: Bihar is going to vote for 4 assembly seats. Among the 4 assembly constituencies in Bihar that will be polled are Ramgarh, Tarri, Belaganj and Imamganj assembly constituencies.

Assam: Voting will be held for 5 assembly seats of Assam. These constituencies include Dholai, Sidli, Bongaigaon, Bohali and Samguri assembly constituencies.

Kerala By-elections are also going to be held in Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and Chilakkara assembly seat.

Karnataka: By-elections are going to be held on three assembly seats in Karnataka. People will exercise their franchise in Karnataka’s Shigaon, Sandur and Channapat assembly constituencies.

Rajasthan: By-elections are going to be held on 7 assembly seats of Rajasthan. These constituencies include Jhunzhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniyara, Khinwsar, Chaurasi, Salumbar and Ramgarh assembly constituencies.

Chhattisgarh: A by-election is going to be held in Raipur City South Assembly seat of Chhattisgarh. 30 candidates are in fray for this seat.

Madhya Pradesh: By-elections are going to be held in Budhani and Vijaypur seats of Madhya Pradesh. Let us tell you that Shivraj Singh Chauhan had to resign from this seat after becoming a Lok Sabha MP.
