Indian Test Captain: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played between the Indian team and Australia from November 22. This is happening for the first time that BGT will have a series of five Test matches. The Indian team for the Test series has already been announced. A batch of Team India has also left for Australia, which includes youngsters like Shubman Gill, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Mohammad Siraj. The head coach and other senior players will go to the second batch. But there is a big doubt on the performance of regular captain Rohit Sharma in the first test match. The big question before Team India is that if Rohit cannot play in the first Test match, who will be the captain in his place? Former Indian cricketer and head coach Gautam Gambhir has given a statement regarding this.
Bumrah will be captain in Rohit’s absence
Before leaving for Australia, the head coach of Team India said that Jasprit Bumrah will take charge of the team if Rohit Sharma cannot play in the first Test due to personal reasons. He is also the vice captain of the team. Bumrah has previously captained Team India in the Test match against England, in which the Indian team lost. He also said that the team has options in the form of KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Iswaran for the opening batsman position.
He said I am not feeling any pressure. Being the coach of the Indian team is a matter of honor and pride. When the head coach was asked if he felt as much pressure as he did under Duncan Fletcher when the team was in a period of change. He said that I am not thinking about change but about five Test matches. Change or not, if it has to happen, it will happen, but I see some incredible players in the Indian team who are eager to perform.
