IPL gives a big boost to Border-Gavaskar trophy, these 2 veterans will leave Perth Test for mega auction

Cricket fans across the world are excited about the IPL 2025 auction. The mega auction for IPL 2025 will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where cricketers from around the world will be auctioned. 1574 players have registered for this auction. This includes 320 capped and 1224 uncapped players. Among the players who registered for the mega auction are 1165 Indian and 409 foreign players.

Team India will be busy playing the Border-Gavaskar series on Australian soil when the IPL mega auction will be held in Jeddah. In fact, the Indian cricket team’s tour of Australia is going to start from November 22. The first Test match will be played in Perth. That means there will be a conflict between the date of the first test match and the date of the IPL mega auction. This could have a huge impact on the viewership of the India-Australia first Test match.

These great players will miss the Perth Test

There are reports that two of Australia’s greatest players will be absent from the Test match to be played in Perth due to the IPL mega auction. In fact, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his teammate Justin Langer will not be able to commentate in the first Test match of the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Saudi Arabia, starting from November 22 in Perth. Both of them have to attend the auction on behalf of their respective franchises.

Let us tell you that Ricky Ponting is the head coach of Punjab Kings. He was recently appointed to this post. At the same time, former Australian coach Justin Langer is part of the coaching staff of Lucknow Super Giants. According to Australian newspaper ‘The Age’, Channel Seven will be unable to feature the services of Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer for parts of the Perth Test between India and Australia due to a conflict of commitments. Thus, Australia may miss its ardent fan in the inaugural Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.
