After winning the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar on Thursday announced that his party will contest the Delhi Assembly elections, to restore the NCP as a national party. Addressing a felicitation function organized at the NCP office in the national capital, Ajit Pawar dismissed the opposition’s allegations of tampering with EVMs in Maharashtra elections. He said that the Grand Alliance is united and will form the government soon.
‘MVA blames EVM after not winning election’
Pawar said that after the announcement of election results, Mahayutti leaders met for the first time on Thursday evening. “We are one… there are no differences,” he said. Pawar said, “There is no truth in their allegations. They are blaming EVMs as they did not get favorable results in assembly elections.
The Congress and Sharad Chandra Pawar’s party NCP (SP) have expressed doubts over the use of EVMs in the assembly elections and have sought to bring back the old tradition of using ballot paper for voting.
Last year, the NCP lost its status as a national party
When asked about the future plans of the NCP, he said that earlier the NCP had got the status of a national party but now it would work to get it back. “We need to do more now,” Pawar said. We will fight and get success.” The NCP lost its national party status in April last year. Ajit Pawar said, “Our next target is the Delhi assembly elections. We will soon hold a national convention of the NCP in the national capital.” Pawar said he had come to the national capital to discuss the power-sharing arrangement in Maharashtra.
