‘Say nothing on ICBM attack’, Russian spokesman calls from Kremlin during press conference

Russia Ukraine War: There is a war going on between Russia and Ukraine and there is no sign of it stopping now. Meanwhile, Ukraine has said that Russia has used an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) for the first time in war, targeting the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement on social media platform Telegram on Thursday that it was fired from the Astrakhan region on Russia’s Caspian Sea, but did not specify the specific type of missile it was. Meanwhile, a Russian spokesman has refused to comment on the attack.

A call came from the Kremlin

Actually the press conference was going on after the Russian attack. The press conference was addressed by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova. Meanwhile, he suddenly received a call from the Kremlin (the official residence of the Russian President) and was told not to say anything on the intercontinental ballistic missile attack. He was told to keep quiet about the ICBM attack. But, during this conversation, Maria forgot to turn off the mic, due to which her voice came out.

This missile is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead

Intercontinental ballistic missiles are designed to carry nuclear warheads and their use would serve as a powerful message of Russia’s nuclear capability. The attack comes two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a revised nuclear doctrine. The war has taken on a more international dimension as North Korean troops arrived to aid Russia on the battlefield.

The situation is worsening

US President Joe Biden is believed to have had to change his policy on allowing Ukraine to fire long-range American missiles at Russia after North Korean troops arrived to Russia’s aid. Russia threatened that Biden’s policy change would have negative consequences. Putin has previously warned the US and other NATO allies that allowing Ukraine to use long-range weapons to attack Russian territory would mean war between Russia and NATO.
