Madrid: A tragic accident has occurred in Zaragoza, Spain. At least 10 people have died in a fire at a nursing home here. Local officials gave this information on Friday. Authorities were alerted Friday morning of the fire at the Villa Franca de Abro nursing home, about 30 minutes north of the northeastern city of Madrid. After receiving the information, fire brigade teams reached the spot.
PM Pedro Sánchez expressed his condolences
The head of Aragon’s regional government, Jorge Azcon, confirmed the death and said on social media platform ‘X’ that all government events in the region have been canceled for today. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also expressed his grief over the fire incident and the death toll here.

The flood caused havoc
The fire comes just weeks after devastating floods in Valencia killed more than 200 people and destroyed thousands of homes. The flood was the worst natural disaster in Spain’s recent history. (AP)
