Trump chose attorney Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture

US President-elect Donald Trump has chosen a lawyer Brooke Rollins To lead the Department of Agriculture, overseeing agriculture, food security and nutrition programs.
Trump announced his decision in a statement, saying, “As our next Agriculture SecretaryBrooke will lead the protection effort American farmersWho are truly the backbone of our country.”
Rollins served as Trump’s domestic policy chief during his previous tenure. Currently, he is the President of America First Policy InstituteThe think tank is gearing up for another Trump Administration
This USDAEstablished in 1862, plays a crucial role in supporting farmers and ensuring food security. The department also administers nutrition programs for low-income families and sets standards for school meals.
Trump’s selection of Rollins completes his selection of department heads. Rollins will replace Tom Vilsack, who held the position under President Joe Biden.
Farmers are watching Trump’s agriculture plans closely, as he has hinted at potentially sweeping tariffs. During his previous term, such tariffs led to retaliatory measures from countries such as China, which affected US agricultural exports.
