Champions Trophy 2025: The Champions Trophy 2025 event is almost 100 days away, but the status of the Indian team’s departure to Pakistan is still unclear. Now the question arises whether the PCB and BCCI will agree on the hybrid model or the Indian cricket team will boycott the tournament completely. If the Indian team does not participate in the Champions Trophy, then which team can play in this tournament instead of India. Let’s know the answer to this question.
8 teams will participate in ICC Champions Trophy 2025. For this tournament, the teams that were in the top-8 in the points table of the 2023 World Cup played in India last year qualified. According to this, the hosts Pakistan, Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are to play in the tournament.
If India declines to play in the Champions Trophy, the 9th ranked team will get an opportunity to play in the Champions Trophy. The Sri Lankan team was ranked 9th in the 2023 World Cup points table. According to this, if India boycotts the tournament, Sri Lanka’s fortunes will open and they will get a chance to play in the tournament. However, this is still very unlikely as nothing has been decided yet.
