Team India dominates WTC points table again, heavy loss to Australia

ICC World Test Championship Points Table: What happened in Perth is recorded in history. Team India registered their biggest win on Australian soil by 295 runs on the fourth day of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing India’s target of 534, Australia were bowled out for 238 in 58.4 overs against sharp bowling from Bumrah (three wickets) and Mohammad Siraj (three wickets). In this way, Team India set the record for the biggest win in terms of runs on Australian soil and the second biggest win outside Asia. Earlier, India defeated Australia by 222 runs in Melbourne in December 1977. India’s biggest win outside Asia was by 318 runs against West Indies in North Sound in August 2019.

A major change to the WTC points table

Due to this great victory by India, there has been a major change in the points table of the World Test Championship i.e. WTC. Team India has lost the top spot in the points table after losing the Test series at home against New Zealand. Australia took the top spot instead of India. But now Team India has reestablished its dominance in the points table by defeating Australia in its own home.

Team India has reached the top again

Prior to this series, the Australian team topped the World Test Championship points table with 62.50 PCT but has now dropped to second place after the loss in Perth. Australia has suffered a huge loss in PCT and now has a PCT of 57.69. On the other hand, Team India has benefited a lot from the brilliant win. Before the Perth Test, Team India’s PCT was 58.30 which has now increased to 61.11 after the win. Also, Team India has again topped the WTC points table.

The Sri Lankan team is third in the WTC points table with 55.56 PCT. The New Zealand team is in fourth place. The Kiwi team’s PCT is currently 54.55. South Africa’s PCT is slightly lower than New Zealand’s and ranks 5th. The England team is present at the venue.
